Abstract

Academic stress is the pressure caused by excessive academic demands and has the potential to influence the emergence of aggressive behavior in students. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between academic stress and aggressive behavior in 11th-grade students in the Industrial Chemical Engineering program at SMKN 1 Mojoanyar. The research used a quantitative correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population and sample consisted of 96 students selected using total sampling. Data collection was conducted in April 2026 using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA) and the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ). The results showed that 51% of respondents experienced high academic stress, and 46.9% had high aggressive behavior. Cross-tabulation indicated that respondents with high academic stress were dominated by high aggressive behavior (61.2%), while respondents with low academic stress were dominated by low aggressive behavior (34.0%). It can be concluded that the higher the academic stress, the higher the tendency for aggressive behavior in students.
